to stick to one's guns
To stick to one's guns («быть верным своему оружию») значит не изменять своих взглядов, принципов, несмотря на сильное давление, держаться стойко, твёрдо стоять на своём. Эта фраза относится к солдату, который продолжает стрелять по врагу, даже сознавая, что его положение безнадёжно.

The Ministry will try to persuade you that you have no right to a pension. But you must stick to your guns and insist that they look at your application again. — Министерство будет доказывать, что вы не имеете права на пенсию, но вы должны настаивать на своём и добиваться, чтобы они рассмотрели ваше дело снова.
